Michael Nichols, suspect in brutal Elyria beating caught on tape, arrested

A group of racist black men setup an innocent white teen to beat & rob the teen. 27-year-old Michael Nichols was the first to start attacking the innocent teen, and then 4 other black men jump in to attack & rob him.

ELYRIA, Ohio - Elyria Police call an assault caught on video one of the worst beatings they have ever seen.

An 18-year-old man told detectives that he was at the Midview Crossing Apartments on April 24 and was waved over by a man he didn't know.

Police believe the man who waved him over is 27-year-old Michael Nichols.

Police said Nichols punched the 18-year-old man, knocking him out.

In the video above, the teen lies on the ground motionless as the man who punched him appears to go through his pockets.

Police said Nichols took $20 and a cell phone out of his pocket.

Then another man or men come in and out of the video, jumping on the victim's head and chest.

Elyria detectives John Davidson and Dan Sumpter identified the other two suspects as 19-year-old James Currie and 24-year-old Sean Buchanan. They were both arrested.

Around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, MetroHealth Police Department detained Nichols at the hospital. He was arrested by Elyria officers around 4:15 a.m. without incident.
